Food Notes
This may come as a surprise to many, but you can actually mix any two or three different sauces together without the flavours clashing. For instance, you can mix Maggi tomato sauce, Lingam’s chili sauce and a Thai sauce and voila! you’ve got your own barbecue sauce. Just make sure that the sauce base consists of garlic, olive oil and onion. Most sauces already contain these ingredients, so you can’t go wrong. Serve a mild sauce for meats that have been marinated and a cream sauce for seafood and plain meats. To thicken a sauce, blend a potato and add it into the sauces.
MJ’s Barbecue Sauce
- Mix three different sauces of your choice together. Then add a dash of Lea Perrins or Worchestershire sauce, lemon and pepper for a richer flavour.
MJ’s Vegetable Dressing
- Blend yoghurt, dill, lemon juice and onions for a rich-flavoured yet light salad dressing.
